Dr. Travien L. Capers hails from Varnville, South Carolina, but has been living in the Midlands of South Carolina for over 20 years now. He started preaching at the young age of 19 and became a pastor at 25. Since 2010, he serves as the pastor at Zion Benevolent Baptist Church, and he fondly refers to the members as "The Best Church on this Side of Heaven."
Dr. Capers is a devoted husband and father. He holds four degrees, including a Doctor of Ministerial Leadership from Columbia International University, where he was a student in the first-ever cohort of the program. He is a well-known gospel preacher and revivalist. He has served on advisory boards, made numerous appearances on television and radio, and has been a guest at the White House on several occasions.
Dr. Capers is passionate about preaching and follows the scriptural advice, "Wisdom is the principal thing, therefore get wisdom, and in all thy getting, get understanding." (Proverbs 4:7)
